Loves Labours Lost

Hello Again.
Just want to show you my wicker man, this was a real labour of love which is why it was a real shame but I had to sell this army recently because of a sudden financial emergency.

But ah well ce la vie, built over an armature the main body of the model is milliput which I then pressed cocktail sticks into to give it the vertical slats. The cage and man are actually from the Giant sprue, I considered trying to find a policeman model but decided that would be very silly. The flames were rolls of green stuff sculpted to the shape desired.

On a Dark and Wintery Evening

Hi there the titan is going to need a few repairs so instead I am going to show you an Undead Werewolf I did for my themed Tomb Kings army.

The Idea for the army is that it is an ancient celtic style army with all sorts of cool undead creatures to stand in for the constructs.

The model is based on a Broodlord with a Dire wolf head the rest of it was sculpted on. I had to refer to anatomical drawings of Humans and Dogs to try and get the right musculature, I used this model as a Tomb Scorpion.

The army got nominated for best Army at Heat 2 of the WFB Grand Tournament. In my next post I'll show you the Burning Wicker Man I did for the army as a Bone Giant.

Hope you like it!

Many apologies

Hi guys sorry I haven't posted in a while because of Crimbo and new year I plan to return with some more pictures soon.

I am gonna take some pictures of my own titan I did some time ago as I am rather prud of him though I will have to see what condition the old boys in at the moment.

In the meantime though here is a picture of an officer of the fleet I completed recently.

Another Commission Complete!

Another one for a regular client this time it is the new Space Wolves character Canis Wolfborn. I love this model and painting it was an absolute dream. I used the White Dwarf guide to paint Canis just adapting the techniques to the different model I am particularly proud of the power field effect on the claws instead of doing the effect one the whole of the claws I blended it towards the end of the claws as I surmise that is where the focus of the power would be.

Titan Commission complete!

As promised my next commission, a Chaos Warhound Titan. This took a little while to complete as I was waiting for a gun to arrive. In these pictures the Titan is actually not glued at the waist as the client would like to paint the torso and legs separately, which is entirely fair as I did the same when I painted my own Imperial titan.
The base is actually a cutting board bought for a quid from Wilkos, which is just the right size for a titan and still keeps the round base effect so beloved by 40k fans. Wish I had thought of it when building my own titan.

Hello again, and welcome back!

This is my most recent commission a Forge world Slaanesh Greater Daemon. This is for a regular client of mine called Justin. I apologise for the poor quality of the photos but I was hurried as I had to go out and meet another client for the next job and deliver this one.

I have to say painting this model was an absolute joy! As was the assembly, until I got to the spikes.
These damned things are so irritating Raagh! I am so glad that these things come with spares as it was I was on my knees several times looking for a spike in a shagpile.

Soon I shall have photos up of my next commission, a warhound titan! Just an assembly job but still worth a look. After that I shall put up some photos of some of my own armies.

Thanks for reading see you soon!

First Post

Hello there and welcome to my new Blog.
My name is Edward Neale-Scullion and I am a collector and commission painter of Wargaming Miniatures (A fancy word for Toy Soldiers).
I am a firm believer in the following:

  • It’s a game so have a laugh.
  • If you stop making noises with the models something inside you has died.
  • No man ever truly grows up.
  • Every man in the entire world is a geek for something, be it football or trains.
I plan on using this blog as a way of showing my work and hopefully as a way of getting more business. This may sound cynical but the more people that would like to hire me as a painter the longer I can live without the drudgery of modern work life.
I will also give updates on my goals that I plan on completing before the end of 2010. They are as following:

  • Stay out of the treadmill, keep away from a true job they only hold you back.
  • Get into University on a film production course, beginning in September.
  • Lose Weight; I’m going to need support on this chaps and chappesses so no comments of who ate all the pies please because it may well cause me to eat all the pies.
  • Create a thriving online painting commission business that will support me through this year and into university.
If you would like me to paint your models for you Private Message me and we can work some stuff out. I believe I am unique in the way I charge for models, I charge based on the retail price of a model. More details will follow.
I will also post up pictures of some commission work I have already done. Thank you for reading my Blog and hopefully we can talk soon!
